Up to 21 December the Arcola Theatre is showing The
Jabberwocky, an innovative staging of Lewis Carroll's poem that features masks,
mime and music. Performances every day at 10.00am in Studio Two. Tickets £3.00. For both
adults and children from 18 December to 30 December the Arcola presents a rework of the
classic Christmas At Chat's Palace, Stage Left presents The Wind in the Willows,
adapted by Jo Creese from the Kenneth Grahame classic. Featuring lots of singalongs and
Toad's obsessions, most especially motor cars, this show is designed to appeal to both
children and adults. It runs from Wednesday 12 December to Saturday 15 December and
performances are at 8.00pm (with a Saturday matinee at 2.00pm). Tickets are £5 (£4
concs) and £2 for children. The Geffrye Museum is running its annual Christmas Past exhibition
which explores the meanings and origins of some of the common Christmas customs and each
of the museum's period rooms are decorated in authentic festive style. They are also
running related events such as an early evening opening on Thursday 13 December,
5.00-8.00pm when the museum is lit by candlelight and informal entertainment will be
provided by a '1711 century lady' preparing for Xmas. Admission is free.
See Spot Run is on at the Rio - at 11am on Saturday 15 December and at 4.15pm on Tuesday 18 December, tickets £2.00 for children and £3.00 for accompanying adults. The Rio will also be showing Harry Potter over the Christmas period. Phone 020 7241 9410 or see their website: www.riocinema.org.uk for details. At the Stoke Newington Bookshop each Wednesday morning in December they'll be having Fruitcake & Friends in to read stories for very little folk (also a great party entertainer by the way). It's from 10 to 10.30 - be there prompt at 10 am. |
