Sister restaurant Lemon Grass, the one with the fancy facade,
offers two lunch-time special menus, one at £6.95, vegetarian (£5.95), during the week
(from 11-3), plus the full Thai range if you're greedy and like the Anglo-Asian, their
Sunday lunchtime buffet, from 12-5.30, offers awesome value and a serious culinary
challenge to the hungry. (By now we were flagging so we stuck to the special menu
plenty to eat from £6.95, with a choice of starters and main meals, followed by dessert.)
58 Stoke Newington Church Street, N16 020 7254 2473 Mon-Sat 11-3; Sun 12-5.30
Another Church Street fixture, the Blue Legume, quietly changed hands last year,
although the giant aubergine hanging outside remains untroubled. New owner Murat is
planning an ambitious new evening menu some time soon (we've seen it and we're drooling
in anticipation), but for now they've maintained the range and the standards and the
naughty cakes. A mind-boggling selection of straight, vegetarian and full-on vegan
alternatives, all-day breakfasts, good coffees, teas, tisanes and alcohol. How do they do
it? Fight through the serried ranks of baby buggies and Sunday papers and check it out.

In the next issue of N16, after only the briefest of spells in a health farm, the Ladies
Who Lunch continue their no-holds-barred in-depth investigation into lunch and where to
have it. If you've got a particular favourite, let us know, and we'll check it out. The
things we do for our art ...
