Redeye 1st birthday, 26/10/02.

Welcome to the world of the Fluid Federation party-collective as it swiftly becomes Stoke Newington's worst kept secret.

The invite-only entrance policy and last minute venue announcements lend the FF's 'legendary' Redeye parties an old-school rave vibe. So far, however, this hasn't meant traipsing around the M25 in the dead of night, but has instead led many of us to discover new corners of N16 with a friendly crowd of Stokey-ites. This word of mouth approach has filled most of the locally available venues and October's first anniversary Redeye party saw people queuing outside in the rain waiting for others to crawl home before themselves gaining access to the sizzling throng inside. Started by DJ and bar manager Darien J with close friend and promoter Paul J to bring together Stokey's multitude of 'up-for-it party people' and provide 'something definitely lacking' in Stokey's nightlife, the Fluid Federation crew of local DJs and artists bring a mix of beats, breaks, house and pulsating visuals to an appreciative crowd catching up with old friends and making new ones.

The DJ roster now includes PH5·Funk (aka Paul Howland; as heard at the Londesborough and Bird Cage), Tattoo John (from the legendary Alabama 3 posse), Julian Coalesce (whose white label remix of Undiscovered Generation's 'Let It Roll' has the vinyl junkies scrambling for the limited amount of copies available), and Darien J playing a wide range of grooves from upbeat house to blistering breaks.

The first anniversary birthday bash heralded the addition of live music with Awacs (aka EB Outcast aka Stoke Newington remix crew, A HatBoy, A Hippy And A SlappyHead) joining the Fluid Federation crew for an ecstatic celebration of all things Fluid if South London has its So Solid Crew, then the North East now has its very own So Fluid Crew with more smiles and less gold teeth.

Plans for the future include a return to the secret Stokey venue (used at the anniversary party) before Christmas and a New Years Eve bash at the Arcola Theatre. For more information on the Christmas bash and tickets to the New Years Eve extravaganza, email your postal address to: fluidfederation@hotmail.com or log on to Future Frequency with Darien J every Tues 8pm-10pm on www.fuzzfmradio.co.uk
