The Kiosk Project on Kynaston Road is holding an exhibition entitled Counting Air, by Rob Smith, on Fridays to Sundays between noon and 5pm, ending 15 December. One cubic centimetre of air contains 25 000 000 000 000 000 000 molecules. These molecules only occupy one thousandth of that volume, leaving so much space in between that light passes straight through the gaps, rendering it invisible to the eye. We only visualise the air through observing its physical effects and forming conceptual models to describe it. For The Kiosk Project Rob Smith is presenting four works that address the notion of looking at air. Phone Regitze on 020 7249 0072 or visit www.thekioskproject.com .

There is a full programme of festive events at the Geffrye Museum in Shoreditch. From 26 November to 5 January each of the Museums twelve rooms is decorated to reflect 400 years of Christmas tradition in English homes, with a special emphasis on food and drink. Special lectures include Delectable Delights, a 17th century Christmas with members of Historic Haute Cuisine (8 December, 2-4pm); Festive Feasting lecture by Sir Roy Strong (12 December, 6.30-7.30pm); Find your Festive Spirit, a candlelight entertainment (12 December, 5-8pm); Concert by Candlelight, a capella Christmas music (17 December); and Farewell to Christmas celebrated in the garden (5 January, 4-5pm). For further information and admission prices, phone 020 7739 9893 or visit www.geffrye-museum.org.uk .

The Arcola Theatre is not showing any adult productions during December, but on 18-21 December they have 'Sweetie Pie', a contemporary version of Hansel and Gretel. Billed as ''a playful explanation of the familiar story', the play is aimed at 4-7-year-olds and their families (18-19, 10am & 1pm; 20-21, 11am & 2pm; £4 admission).

Hot on the heels of November's Kurdish Film Festival, the Rio Cinema is once again hosting the London Turkish Film Festival, with a selection of the best new Turkish feature films, documentaries and shorts. For the festival's tenth anniversary the cinema is screening several new films including Zeki Demirkubuz's Confession (Itiraf) and Semir Aslanyurek's The Waterfall (Sellale) as well as twelve classic Turkish films. The Festival runs from 8-17 December. The Rio is also showing the fantasy blockbuster The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (wouldn't you, if you owned a cinema at Christmas?). Phone 020 7241 9419 for timings and prices.

The Bullion Room Theatre (behind the Hackney Empire) is running Ozzy's Adventures in Nursery Rhyme Land written by the team behind BBC TV's The Tweenies. The performance features songs, competitions, prizes and audience participation for adults and kids alike. On throughout December until 6 January. Phone Bob Office on 020 8985 2424. More fun for kids at Chat's Palace (020 8533 0227) every Saturday, featuring clowns, drama, facepainting, music and puppets.
