More than just coffee

DO YOU GET A LITTLE ANIMATED OR INCENSED WHEN READING, HEARING OF OR EXPERIENCING LOCAL CRIME?

Why not consider applying to become a Magistrate? Currently in the N16 postcode there is only one Magistrate appointed, and more are needed. The Judiciary is endeavouring to recruit more people as Justices of the Peace and to reflect the diversity of the community.

It is an institution that was first formed by King Richard 1 (Lionheart) in 1195 with Knights as ‘Keepers of the Peace’. It was then, and remains today, an unpaid vocation. However, expenses and  subsistence are paid. Visit www.dca.gov.uk and click on ‘Magistrates’ for more on thehistory and also on how to apply.

If you fancy visiting the local Magistrates Court at 58 Bow Road (with its own unique history of processing criminals around the River Thames) to view justice at work, and see if it may be your thing, call 020 8271 1200
.
