Morning Bride
By Warren Neill
Rising out of the ashes of the once brilliant XR5 comes Morning
Bride. Formed just over a year ago by songwriter, vocalist and bassist
Mark Pearson, they have been very busy recording, playing sell-out
gigs around London and are causing some serious ripples on the alt-country
scene. There will be a launch party on Saturday 1 April for the
new double ‘A’ side single ‘This is no place for
harbouring angels/Blue eyed boy’ at The Others on Manor Road
and, as this will be the first show in their native Stoke Newington,
it expects to be a sell-out – like their last show at The
Others, when the doors had to be shut and punters turned away before
the band even took the stage. Their first single ‘Isabelline/Replica’
has completely sold out. However, it’s available as a free
download from their website www.morningbride.co.uk.
‘How a country-tinged, angel-voiced quartet can be quite
so powerful is anyone’s guess... there is a magic pulsing
through their world, where its song stings with poignancy and empathy,
and each chorus sounds like it’s been your favourite break-up
anthem for years’ (Artrocker Magazine).
