Homeopathy

The homeopaths at Shine Holistic on Stoke Newington Church Street have been treating the local community for over 40 years combined. They’ve seen everything from ear infections and colds to anxiety and depression, insomnia, female complaints, allergies, IBS, infertility, STDs, arthritis, blood pressure, relationship problems and work stress. They’ve treated one year-old babies right up to 90-year-olds. Caroline, Louise, Mary, Sarah and Aurora told us what it’s like being homeopaths in Stoke Newington.

Sarah: Our clients mirror Stoke Newington and all that’s vibrant, interesting and completely diverse about this area.
Louise: Some of our homeopaths go back decades to the ‘old’ Clissold Park Natural Health Centre on Church Street, which was one of the pioneers of community alternative health in London.
Aurora: As a group, we continue in that tradition of community spirit; also, it feels great to know that we are helping the people of Stoke Newington stay well and happy.
Caroline: We usually see individuals, but working with families can be really inspiring too. Everyone is so different in terms of their temperament, likes and dislikes, and all that information helps us decide the right remedy for them.
Mary: At Shine Holistic we have a large stock of homeopathic medicines to dispense, if necessary. So clients can get their prescription on the spot.
Louise: It’s wonderful how long we’ve treated some of our clients, working with them over many years, through life’s events. Homeopathy doesn’t stop life happening, it helps people move forward thanks to their treatment.
Mary: You never know who is going to come through the door, and that unpredictability is really challenging and rewarding for us.
Caroline: We’re like doctors used to be. Instead of passing a client on to a specialist, the homeopath can treat the complete person and all their complaints.
Aurora: When we work with our clients, it’s a genuine partnership, and they’re actively involved in their own healing process.
Caroline: Our clients appreciate the fact that their homeopathic consultation lets them talk in more depth about the sensations, reactions and emotions that come with their symptoms, and that helps us prescribe remedies that suit that whole person.
Sarah: The homeopathic appointment is delicate work, and takes time, which is why we see new clients for 90 minutes to talk through their case history.
Louise: Homeopathy is an art and a science. The art is about listening and taking the patient’s case. The science is the rigorous principles we apply when choosing a remedy for each patient. There are more than 2500 homeopathic remedies, all made from natural substances like Sulphur, Berberis, Gold and Chocolate!
Mary: Through the course of treatment, we see people change their lives for the better because they finally have the energy. Before seeing the homeopath their body was occupied with being sick, but afterwards they experience better health and more freedom in their lives as well.
Aurora: We see them becoming empowered, taking control of their health.
Sarah: It’s so rewarding when a client feels better than they have done for many years, after taking just a few little pills. It’s hard to believe!

There’s a homeopath at Shine Holistic on Church Street almost every day of the week.
