KIERON MAGUIRE
& THE SUITCASE CINEMA
The Search For Ulises (16mm film + Homeric guitar)

Suitcase Cinema are a mobile cinema who thread found 16mm reels on a borrowed projector to bring to digital audiences the breath-held-in wonder of the dusty, noisy flicker of physical film. Teaming up with Cabinet of Living Cinema founder, Kieron Maguire, they present a reel of The Search for Ulysses, a beautiful 1960s documentary following the footsteps of Homer's hero around the islands of the Med. Instead of the documentary narration, Kieron Maguire provides a live score inspired by Ulysses' epic encounters and reads from the poem.

Influenced by English folk and traditional music, Tim Jones plays a set of songs taking in Welsh mining valleys, ghoulish apparitions, anthropomorphic cats and Queen Elizabeth’s dastardly plans for the union.

Vronsky are South London’s finest purveyors of lyrical folky earworms, and are paying a rare visit to the wilds of Stoke Newington to play an intimate set.

Description

Trangallan say:

"It’s been a year since four friends began to talk about opening a Gastronomic & Cultural space near their homes in Stoke Newington.

'We discovered a former social club in nearby Newington Green where locals used to meet and play cards. Disused for over a year, the building has been slowly brought back to life as we began scouring vintage markets and antique fairs for unusual furniture and decor that would tell an interesting story to our guests'.

It’s clear on first visit to see all the passion, thought and hard work that have gone in to bringing Trangallán to life. The Tranga, as it’s already nicknamed, is now open for a unique neighborhood experience. Choose to dine with friends on the long table beneath the antique chandelier, explore the hand-picked wines and tapas at the masterpiece of a bar made from a collection of vintage tables, or head down into the basement for live music, screenings and unique performances. On your way out, you might want to take back with you one of our carefully selected pieces of furniture which are for sale."
