Hackney Homes is warning residents to be aware of bogus callers and letters advertising a false service and advising people to call a premium rate or mobile number.

Letters, offering the removal of security gates for a fee have not been sent out by Hackney Homes. If you receive a letter/flyer like this, please do not ring the number as we cannot confirm the credibility of such organisations. Hackney Homes offers a free security gate removal service and do not use any premium rate numbers.

Reports have also been received of tenants approached by men claiming to carry out work on behalf of Hackney Homes.

Hackney Homes staff and contractors always carry their identification cards on all visits. Please ensure that you check ID cards before allowing people into your home. If you are unsure or want clarification regarding a visit to your home, please call the repairs contact centre on 020 8356 3691.
