The website says
Springfield Park officially opened as a public park in 1905 and takes its name from its unique geology. The park was formed from the grounds of three private houses, of which only Springfield House (The White House) remains. The Park is approximately 40 Acres in size and contains areas of both formalised gardens and conservation areas and has extensive views across Walthamstow Marshes.
A brand new play area focused on natural play has been created in the centre of the park, which not only provides traditional play elements but also a table tennis table and and three outdoor chessboards.
The park was awarded a Green Flag award in 2011. The Green Flag Award Scheme recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country. Hackney currently has thirteen Green Flags - one of the highest totals in London.
