A little over a year ago Transition Town Stoke Newington consisted of a few people, meeting up in pubs and wondering what to do next. They now have over 300 people on their mailing list, and also official Transition status.

The opening scene of the Arcola's production of Heldenplatz, is a stylised and elegantly choreographed evocation of a moment of flight, in an otherwise broadly naturalistic production.

The Old Politis Turkish Delight factory is the home to a recently opened independent arts centre in Manor Road, Stoke Newington. On offer is a range of facilities for the development of art in Hackney, including a gallery space, artists’ studios, a dance studio, a music rehearsal space, a recording studio and internet radio station Reel Rebel Radio.
